Bridgestone Battlax BT46 im Test

“Quick BT46 tire review for INT650 Bridgestone's BT46 "sport touring" tires are a common recommended upgrade from the stock tires on these bikes, but I did not have a very good experience with them. Excellent grip, no issue with how the tires felt in corners, however the front tire wore out in about 3000 miles which is an insanely short service interval. You can't really label this tire a "touring" tire if it wears out that fast. The INT650 is not a "fast" bike, I mostly cruise on it, I'm not riding it aggressively like a sport bike. The rear tire surprisingly looked better than the front, the rear probably had another 3k miles left on it. Also, as the front tire got near the end of its life, it started getting a scalloped wear pattern and front wheel wobble at certain speeds. Not good. I thought my steering cone bearings were failing because that's a known issue with these bikes but no, it was the BT46 front tire because as soon as I replaced front and rear with Michelin road classics, the steering wobble completely went away. The Michelin road classics feel great, very stable in corners, but let's see how long they last. People claim they get 10k miles out of the rear and 10-12k out of the front, sheesh wouldn't that be nice. Also yes the Michelins are more expensive, but not by much, we're talking like a $30 difference per tire to potentially get 3X the mileage. I'm not trying BT46's again for sure.”

“Bought wrong tire Hopped in Cycle Gear yesterday to buy a New Battlax S23. I must have been distracted because I actually ordered the BT46 sport touring Battlax. Considering using it. I have a S23 hypersport on the rear. I've never mixed tires before. Bad idea? No biggie? Thoughts?”

“Brand new tyre puncture Very sad. Went out for a ride with a friend today and had a lovely time. Took the bike out again just now and it felt a bit squirelly, so I pulled over to check the bike and discovered the rear wheel was flat 🙃 Very carefully went back home, took the wheel off, found this little gremlin stuck in the tread and confirmed that's where the leak was. Added pain: these are brand new tyres, Battlax BT46, I put them on last weekend and have only done two proper rides on them 🥺 Gonna get the tyre off tomorrow to fully check the damage, then take it to a garage on Monday after work to see if it can be fixed, really hope I don't have to buy another new tyre Opinions/advice welcome, but mostly ig I haven't posted here before and finally had something to talk about lol Read more”

“I live my bt46s. Even after about 6k kms on them. Mine are stock size though. Despite this, I plan to get tyres for some dirt/gravel riding next time I’m due for a change. And will probably upsize to 150 at the back. Perhaps stick to the stock size in the front.”
